Fish Curry

Malabar matthi curry, also known as fish curry, is an Indian dish with Chinese roots. It consists of sardines semi-stewed in a Kerala-style curry with assorted vegetables, such as okra or onions.

Ingredients:

  •  12 fillets bonelss fish
  • 1 tsp. Mustard seeds
  • 8 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1 inch ginger
  • Green Chilies, slit lengthwise
  • 6 nos. deseeded and julienned
  • 150gms grated onions
  • Curry leaves
  • 3 nos. Tomatoes, pureed & strained
  • ½ tsp. Turmeric powder
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp. Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. Coriander leaves
  • 2 tsp. oil
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:

  •  Preheat Home Classic pot and grease with little oil and season with mustard seeds.
  • Add garlic and ginger and stir for a minute
  • Add green chilies. Add onions and sauté until brown. Add turmeric powder, curry leaves and tomatoes.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add coconut milk and bring it to a boil.
  • Add fish, salt and vinegar. Cover and simmer for a few minutes.
  • Stir only once or twice and very gently to make sure that the fillers do not break.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with steamed Rice.
