Kadai Chicken

Chicken karahi, also known as gosht karahi and kadai chicken is a Pakistani and North Indian dish noted for its spicy taste and usage of capsicum. It is said that only one utensil is enough to cook this dish and that is a karahi.


  • 1 Kg Chicken
  • 8-10mos. Medium tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp. Coriander leaves
  • 2 nos. Medium onion
  • 2 tsp Garlic Paste
  • 2 tsp Ginger, finely chopped
  • 6-8 nos. Dry red chilies
  • 8 nos. chopped green chilies
  • 1 tsp. red chilii powder
  • 1 tbsp. Whole Coriander (Dhania)
  • 1 tsp. Garam Masala powder
  • 1 tsp. Coriander powder (Dhania Powder)
  • 1 tsp. whole Garam Masala
  • 2 tsp. oil
  • Salt as per taste


  • Skin and cut the chicken into pieces.
  • Take whole dhania, dry red chilies and pound together. Slice the onions.
  • Preheat Home Classic pot grease it with little oil add whole garam masala, garlic, whole dhania, green chilies and red chilies mixture. Fry till onions are golden brown.
  • Put in tomatoes, ginger, dhania powder and red chili powder. Add some water cover and let it cook. Once the gravy is reduced put in the chicken pieces, salt and coriander leaves.
  • Mix well and sprinkle Garam masala powder, cover and cook for 8-10 minutes
  • Serve hot.
